Addons and the damage meter

Azeroth Survivors supports real WoW 1.12-style addons, plus an official API that exposes the run: boss timers, guardians, spells and the damage meter. Here is how to install them and which ones are worth it.

How to install addons

Windows / Linux

  1. In game, open Options → AddOns → Open AddOns Folder.
  2. Unzip the addon and put its folder there, so the path ends in AddOns/AddonName/AddonName.toc.
  3. The folder lives at benilla-config/AddOns/ next to the game's executable if you prefer to open it yourself.
  4. Re-enter the world (or relog). Addons load at the next world entry.

Browser

  1. Open Options → AddOns.
  2. Choose install a .zip and pick the addon's zip (the zip must contain the addon folder).
  3. Enable it in the addon list and re-enter the world.

Only download addons from their authors' pages (the GitHub links below). An addon is code that runs in your game; never run an .exe that claims to be an addon.

The built-in damage meter

The game ships with its own meter, Damage Done. It breaks damage down by spell, pet, talent and item, and shows talent and amulet procs in blue so you can see how much a capstone actually contributes. It is also exposed to addons, which is why community meters match it exactly.

Use it to test builds: run the same zone twice with different picks and compare total damage and DPS at the same minute. It also shows damage you took by source (boss melee, boss spells, elites, mob melee, mob spells and ground effects), which tells you what is really killing you.

Best Azeroth Survivors addons

Several need game version 0.87 or newer, which added the run API. If an addon does nothing, update the game first.

Make your own addon

Addons are ordinary 1.12 addons (Lua and XML) with ## Interface: 11200 in the .toc. The game adds read-only globals for the run, for example AZS_GetRunTime(), AZS_GetUpcomingBosses(), AZS_GetGuardians() and AZS_GetMeter(), plus tables for your spells, buffs and stats, and AZS_SetHudShown() to hide parts of the stock HUD.

Write for 1.12 Lua conventions (this, event, arg1, table.getn), match bosses by name since there are no GUIDs, and check AZS_GetPhase() before reading run data. The full API notes are mirrored in community projects such as azeroth-survivors-addon-skill.

Addons FAQ

Does Azeroth Survivors have a damage meter?

Yes. The game has a built-in damage meter (Damage Done) that lists damage by spell, pet, talent and item, with talent and amulet procs shown in blue. Addons such as AZS Spell Meter read the same numbers and add kills and per-proc detail.

Can I use normal WoW Classic addons?

Azeroth Survivors runs a WoW 1.12.1-style client, so addons use the 1.12 format (## Interface: 11200). Old vanilla addons may load, but most were written for a real MMO and will not understand a survivors run. Use addons made for Azeroth Survivors.

Are addons cheating?

No. The addon API is read-only: addons can read the run (clock, bosses, spells, damage meter) and hide or redraw the HUD, but nothing an addon does changes the run itself. The game is single-player.

Are there cheats or cheat codes for Azeroth Survivors?

No. The game has no cheat codes or cheat console, addons cannot change a run, and the game refuses to load a save file that was edited. Be wary of downloads that promise cheats or trainers: they are a common way to spread malware. The legitimate way to get stronger is talent experience, which every run pays, and the account perks bought with achievement points (see perks).

Are there mods for Azeroth Survivors?

Addons are the mods: the game loads WoW 1.12-style addons, and the community builds ones made for it, from damage meters to full UI replacements. There is no official support for changing game files.

Do addons work in the browser version?

Yes. In the browser, open Options → AddOns and install a .zip of the addon folder. On Windows and Linux, drop the folder into the AddOns folder instead.
